Just who is Sean Mulkey?

Sean Mulkey is an extraordinary display of talent. His art reflects his vision of the world with amazing precision. His art is also quite detailed and thought provoking! He started drawing at age 5 and started teaching himself how to paint in 2002 while in high school. He has no formal training. Not only is Sean a self-taught painter, he is multi-talented. He is also a self-taught musician who plays the keyboard. Needless to say, music plays a major part in influencing his paintings.

His canvas is a story telling medium. His work is inspired from life itself. it captures various tones and atmospheres from feeling a sense of pride and hopefulness to feeling a sense of despair and hopelessness. Acrylics are his main medium of choice, however, he also works with oils, graphite and pen and ink. Sean prefers to paint exclusively on black canvases because it allows him to manipulate the lighting and shadows, as well as structure the subjects and environments more effectively. He also enjoys painting large works so that he can easily draw his audience into the experience with him.

Connect with Sean on his website, Facebook, and Instagram.
